New 400 sq. mile 3D seismic survey provides a regional image of the Misener sand trend incorporating hundreds of wells and processed and interpreted with modern technology compared to old 2D seismic data previously used to find Misener sand trends.
The Misener sand is of the Upper Devonian age and is a valley-fill deposit that sits on top of the Sylvan shale and is draped by the oil Woodford Shale source rock. Our logs show these formations. Misener sand has proven to be a prolific producing reservoir of oil and gas in north-central Oklahoma, mainly Garfield, Grant, and Alfalfa counties. In Garfield County, Misener sand tends Northwardly and extends into the West Central part of Grant County, Oklahoma. Some of the well-known fields in the trend are Hawley (3.8 mil BO), Hawley SE (2.3 mil BO), NE Nash (6.7 mil BO), North Vicar (1.5 mil BO), N. Kremlin (1.3 mil BO), West Kremlin (5.0 mil BO), Hunter (3.0 mil BO) and Wildhorse Creek (1.0 mil BO).
